The tour of South Health campus will offer a unique opportunity to see this state of the art facility in full operation!!
Construction of South Health Campus started in 2007, the Campus rolled their programs and services from August 2012 to September 2013.
Currently, the hospital has just under 300 beds; specialty services include Neurology, Cardiology, Surgery, Mental Health, orthopedics and Maternity.
Meals are assembled in a centralized chilled environment, with two “cells”. South Health Campus uses the Burlodge B Pod Meal Delivery System; carts are transported to decentralized re-therm kitchens.
Whenever possible; patients are given the opportunity to make menu selections via a “Spoken Menu”. A “room service” menu is provided to maternity patients.
The South Health Campus is the first in Canada to incorporate a YMCA in a hospital setting. In fact, one reason the SHC is called a campus and not a hospital is because of its emphasis on wellness services and health promotion.
